A Gas Safe registered engineer conducts an inspection of all gas appliances within the property. This process involves:
- Checking for Gas Leaks – Inspecting pipework and connections to detect any potential leaks.
- Testing Appliance Pressure – Ensuring that each gas appliance operates at the correct pressure.
- Carbon Monoxide Checks – Confirming there are no dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO) emissions.
- Flue and Ventilation Examination – Ensuring that flues, chimneys, and ventilation systems are functioning correctly and not blocked.
- Safety Device Testing – Inspecting all safety devices, such as flame failure devices, to ensure they are working properly.
If the inspection is successful and the appliances are safe, the engineer will issue a Gas Safety Certificate, which remains valid for 12 months. If any faults are identified, the engineer may recommend repairs before issuing the certificate.
